Toucan

Toucan Art Print (1849)

This attractive reproduction of a vintage natural history print depicts a variety of the Ariel toucan.

The toucan is denoted on the plate as Ramphastos maximus, which was later synonymized with the Ariel toucan (Ramphastos ariel), and which now is usually considered a subspecies of the channel-billed toucan (R. vitellinus.)

This image comes from D'Orbigny's Dictionnaire Universel d’Histoire Naturelle, and the artist was Edouard Travies.

Available from ImageKind (Toucan) in a variety of print sizes, as well as in a greeting card format.
