Website Update Coming

I'm in the process of planning out a revision to my three primary websites, starting first with CoachwhipBooks. While I like the cover images, I've got too many now (and more coming) for it to work effectively. Also, I need to apply some practical SEO. My current plan is to implement the "pyramid" structure: home page, category pages, title pages. I'm reviewing some very interesting SEO material right now, so it may take me a little while to go over it, but I'm hoping to have an updated site by mid-October.

Omnibus vs Anthology

Yeah, have a few more anthologies on the way, but also some omnibuses... similar to Pym, will collect similar-themed fiction by different authors (usually). I just finished the ocr correction for The Devil-Tree of El Dorado, and am almost done with Vampires of the Andes, so will publish them together, I think. With separate books, I'd have to ask $13.95 minimum for the fiction, while I can put two novels together for $19.95 and save the reader some money (and still make a profit). The omnibus also allows me to market more effectively on Amazon, as the book won't be automatically shuttled as an alternative paperback for a current title by another publisher.

Compare When You Shop

I suspect most people know this, but make sure you check discounts at both Amazon and B&N when planning to buy a title. They discount books differently, at least when a title first comes out. I put a 40% wholesale discount on one recent text, and B&N now discounts it 20%; Amazon has no discount, and they probably won't put one on until a few initial copies have sold there. (Looks like copies sold for that title have all been through B&N...) On the other hand, once a title has sold a number of copies on Amazon, you might get better discounts there. (And, if the Mussels book is any indication, the discounting can change drastically back and forth...)

Currently working on: Just finished the layout for Al Spoo's Nature Notes, Volume 1. Now for volume 2...
